thanks for putting this up… from reading this one would think that Darul Uloom Deoband is one of the most progressive Islamic institutions in the world. I suppose they have to be careful what they say now, since they get so much negative publicity from the Taliban. It would be interesting to read a similar interview from the 90s. I wonder if they would consider the Taliban to be not Deobandis then, too?

Yeah…..Darul Uloom has to do so…but unfortunately they are engaged in new disputes as “Vande Mataram”…..
When Taliban Apologists and then the strong supporter of their Kabul Govt JU has arranged a Conference at Peshawar in 2000, Ulemas from Darul Uloom have shared the stage with Taliban Minister and Deobandi elements of Pakistan including Jehadis and Secataran leaders….
After the Conference when Late Asad madni commented on Kashmir jehad in a gathering at Multan(or somewhere else) his Car was stoned by Jehadis…They will be treated in the same way in Pakistan on the current issues
